The Young Family is a Tweed, Ontario based group who has graduated from kitchen pickin’ to Tweed’s local Bluegrass band. The band plays a variety of events and festivals in Eastern Ontario. They again have been invited to perform at the 2008 Central Canadian Bluegrass Awards in Huntsville. This family currently host a monthly “Tweed Jamboree”, which showcases local talent and have donated over twelve thousand dollars to various local charities.
The Young Family consists of Gary and Alberta (Ma & Pa), Brad and Jeff. Gary and Alberta raised all five of their kids on traditional country music which has a major impact on their overall sound. The group boasts a hard driving sound provided by Brad’s banjo, Jeff’s flat-pickin’ and Gary’s constant rhythm. The vocals are a blend of true family harmony by mother Alberta.
